June 14, 2017 Day #13 Manoa Falls Family hike

June 14, 2017

It was decided last night that we were going to change the time of the Manoa Falls hike from 7am to 8am.  Unfortunately, Rebecca's text to Hanh didn't go through and Hanh thought she arrived "late" at 7:30am.  Everyone else arrived around 8:30am.  Adriane and Moses brought Malasadas from Leonard's for breakfast.  They were still warm and tasted sinful.

Just as we started our hike, it started pouring cats and dogs.  The only person who had a rain jacket was Russell.  I had loaned mine to Jillian to go golfing with David.  The heavy rain didn't let up until we reached the waterfall, and that was an hour hike.  Soaking wet, we all took our dutiful picture in front of the majestic fall before we made our way down.  It was a much easier hike down without the challenge of the rain.  Realizing that this is the last hike in Hawaii as a family, we walked a little slower, had conversations with the little ones, took silly pictures, and had fun with each other.

We all caravan back to Kailua and the boys had burgers at Teddy's while the rest of us walked to Hibachi's for poke to take back to the house for lunch.  At home, Mom was busy making fried rice with various leftovers in the refrigerator.  After lunch, Russell, Ed, and Adriane took the boys to Kailua beach to play.  The rest of the the adults took a short nap before heading to the store to buy ingredients for dinner.

Rebecca offered to make dinner tonight, Grilled beef with garlic noodles, one of David's favorites.  Rebecca, Mom, Tiffanie, and Moses went grocery shopping while I kept watch at home.  Russell was told to keep the kids at the beach until dinnertime...at last some quiet down time for me.  By 6pm, everyone was home and we had a great dinner with the whole family.

Tomorrow, Mom and Dad, David, Hanh, and Moses' families will be flying back to California. My family will be joining Rebecca's family for three night at the Disney's Aulani.  Before everyone went their separate ways, we got together for a family photo.  Even with the kids whining, and figuring out a good place to take the photo, we manage to get a decent one.  The Nguyen Ohana vacation concludes.  Like all family vacations, we had our ups and downs, tears and laughters, hugs and disagreements but in the end, we are always there for each other.  We are stronger together.
